About

Flowers in the Window sits on Jalan Dhoby, a street in JB's old town that has been steadily filling with cafes and creative spaces since 2016. The cafe is run by the same team that operated the well-known Roost Cafe (now closed), and carries forward the same focus on ambience and solid brunch food.

The interior lives up to the name: flowers, greenery, large windows letting in natural light, and enough photo opportunities to fill an Instagram story. The menu covers the brunch classics: eggs benedict, French toast, pasta, and a selection of specialty coffees. Portions are generous by JB standards.

At 8 minutes walk from CIQ, it is slightly further than the Jalan Tan Hiok Nee cluster but still very accessible for bus travellers. The Jalan Dhoby strip has a rougher, more authentic character than the polished Tan Hiok Nee cafes. Some people prefer that.

ShiokScore Breakdown

Scored across 5 dimensions specific to cafes. Learn what each means →

Coffee 80

Espresso quality, bean sourcing, brew method variety, latte art. Does the barista know their single-origin from their house blend?

Food 85

Brunch and pastry quality, menu creativity, portion size. Some cafes are coffee-first with token food. Others are full kitchens that happen to serve good coffee.

Vibes 92

Interior design, natural light, photo spots, music, seating comfort. The reason half of Singapore drives to JB on a Saturday morning.

Value 82

Price in SGD equivalent, portion-to-price ratio. A flat white that costs $3 SGD equivalent vs $7 in Singapore changes how you feel about the whole experience.

Access 90

Distance from JB CIQ, parking availability, Grab access, opening hours. A great cafe that takes 45 minutes from the checkpoint and has no parking loses points.

Type: Themed Cafe

The interior IS the product. Garden themes, industrial lofts, vintage libraries. You go for the photos as much as the coffee.
