72, Lorong Jalan Tengkera Pantai 2C, Kampung Tengkera Pantai Dua, 75200 Melaka
Baba Charlie operates from a traditional wooden house tucked into a tiny alley opposite Masjid Tengkera in Kampung Tengkera. There is a red signboard, but you could walk past it three times without noticing. The alley does not look like it leads to food. It does.
The kuih here is handmade by a Peranakan family using traditional recipes. Kuih Bongkong is the one to try: smooth, silky, made with real gula Melaka that gives it a deep caramel sweetness. The texture is closer to a good panna cotta than to the rubbery kuih you find at supermarkets. Other varieties rotate, but the Bongkong is always available.
At RM 1 to 3 per piece, you can try five or six different kuih for under RM 15. Open daily from 10:30am to 3pm, closed Thursdays. Buy extra to take home. They travel well for a day or two.

Where Malacca people actually eat. Outside the tourist zone. No English menu. The Google Maps pin might be wrong. Worth the effort.
